The U.S. Supreme Court Dobbs case overturned Roe v. Wade!
States can now protect preborn lives in America!

In the Midwest, Missouri, Kentucky, and South Dakota have enacted laws to protect preborn life. Wisconsin clinics have stopped performing abortions.

Yet in Illinois, abortion remains legal through all 9 months of pregnancy.

The March for Life Chicago continues to advocate for preborn children and their parents, now with the primary focus at the state level.

As Illinois’ laws put Midwesterners at risk, we must unite and stand up for preborn life!

SPEAK UP

Illinois abortion clinics are targeting more pregnant women and children than ever before - but many in the Midwest have no idea.

Help teach people what is going on!

  • Show support for pregnant women so they can choose life, including those in IL and the increasing number traveling to IL.

  • Oppose Illinois’ extreme abortion laws, which allows abortion through all 9 months of pregnancy, up to the moment of birth.

  • Alert Midwesterners that IL abortion clinics are targeting neighboring states by building large abortion centers near the state line (3 new since 2018).

Many people do not understand what is happening, and what Dobbs means.

Watch Anna Kinskey, Associate Director of weDignify and the March for Life Chicago, breakdown what the Dobbs decision means in under 3 minutes here.

"To quote the Dobbs decision, 'Roe was also egregiously wrong and deeply damaging.' 50 Years later - the Supreme Court corrects their egregious mistakes. Today is a momentous day for human rights in America!" - watch the full video!

What is Dobbs?

In 2018, Mississippi passed a state law to ban abortions after 15 weeks, except for some medical exceptions.

Legal challenges stopped the law from going into effect. An abortion clinic, Jackson Women’s Health sued Mississippi. That case is the Dobbs v Jackson lawsuit which made it all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The US. Supreme Court heard oral arguments on the case in December 2021.The 15-week ban challenges a prior U.S. Supreme Court ruling (Planned Parenthood v. Casey) which only allows states to restrict abortion after viability (approx. 23 weeks).

Additionally, Mississippi argued not only to allow for a 15 week ban, but to overturn Roe v. Wade and return to the states the rights to regulate abortion.

The Dobbs Decision

On June 24th, 2022, the Supreme Court announced the Dobbs decision.

The Supreme Court fully overturned Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey!

In doing so, the Supreme Court returned the right of states to protect thousands of children from the tragedy of abortion!

Prior to the Dobbs decision, the Casey decision restricted states from passing protections for preborn life before viability (approx. 23 weeks).

Now states can protect preborn life from the moment it begins — at conception. In the Midwest, many states have already banned abortion (see below), and more will follow.

The March for Life Chicago continues to advocate for preborn children and their parents, now with the primary focus at the state level.

Midwesterners must stand up for preborn life!

Midwest Impact

Dobbs overturned Roe v. Wade allowing states to fully protect preborn life.

Midwest States

Many states already have already enacted laws to save preborn lives!

These Midwest states that have banned abortion:

Missouri, Kentucky, North Dakota, & South Dakota

Michigan (not in effect)

Wisconsin: has a state law on the books banning abortion. The WI Attorney General said he will not enforce this law, but all abortion clinics stopped performing abortions.

These Midwest states have limited abortion:

Ohio (Abortion banned after fetal heartbeat detected)

Iowa (abortion banned after fetal heartbeat detected, not in effect)

The Problem of Illinois

With Roe gone, Illinois’ extreme abortion laws continue to hurt the Midwest.

It is anticipated that thousands and thousands more people will travel to Illinois for abortions. (The out-of-state abortion rate has already tripled in the last 5 years.)

Illinois extreme laws include:

  • Like North Korea and China, Illinois allows abortion through all 9 months, up to birth.

  • Tanning salons have more health regulations than abortion clinics, who no longer even have annual health inspections.

  • Abortion clinics now perform abortions on minors without any notification to her parents.

  • Abortion pills, that are very dangerous to the mother after 11 weeks gestation, are now distributed through the mail without an in-person exam to date the age of the pregnancy.
